Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai has pledged to support and work with the dreaded Recce Squad of the General Service Unit (GSU).
Mutyambai made the promise on Tuesday when he visited the Recce Company Headquarters in Ruiru, Kiambu County during a familiarisation tour.
It was during the visit that the IG revealed that he had previously worked with the deadly special commandos who have been in the forefront in neutralising several terrorist attacks in the country.
Mutyambai, who coordinated the rescue operation during the Dusit D2 complex terrorist attack, hailed the officers for risking their lives to save others and promised not to forget them.
"I am one of you and have previously worked with you behind the scenes. I promise to support you as you undertake your delicate duties to save lives when called upon to do so. I will not forget you," he promised.
Before his appointment as the successor of retired IG Joseph Boinnet, Mutyambai was Deputy Director Counter-terrorism at the National Intelligence Service (NIS) where he is commended for recording great achievements.
"Recce Company is respected all over Kenya and beyond. I am proud of you and as your Inspector General, I ask you to to keep up and together we will do more," the IG urged the highly trained soldiers who undergo special training in Israel, United Kingdom, America and other countries known for major military exploits.
