There’s no doubt that Siaya Senator James Aggrey Orengo is an astute politician and replacing him when the time comes will be no mean task.
Orengo is reportedly said to be eyeing the Siaya Gubernatorial seat in 2022 after serving as the county's Senator for two terms.
That leaves the question, who will replace Orengo as Siaya Senator incase he decides to vie for the gubernatorial seat?
There can only be one answer to that question - Paul Amollo Otiende.
The Rarieda Member of Parliament (MP) is serving his very first term in Parliament but his actions, movements, beliefs, plans, and aspirations point to the fact that he can be a perfect replacement once Orengo exits the Siaya Senatorship.
Though he, Amollo, has not been in the elective political circles for long enough like Orengo, his repute in matters politics is unrivaled.
Besides, he matches Orengo's wit in matters law, the more the reason he could sit in well as the heir-apparent as the Siaya Senator.
Exactly one year ago, Orengo and Otiende led a group of lawyers that swayed Supreme Court Judges led by Chief Justice David Kenani Maraga to nullify President Uhuru Kenyatta’s win in last year’s hotly contested August 8, 2017, presidential election.
Thus, Amollo replacing Orengo as Siaya Senator in 2022 is highly likely, and in case that happens, it will be what is known in football terms as the like-for-like substitution.
This means replacing a goalkeeper-for-goalkeeper, defender-for-defender, midfielder- for-midfielder or striker-for-strike.
In Siaya's case, it will be replacing a brilliant mind with another brilliant mind.
