A Jubilee politician has elicited sharp debate over viability of the County Government of Nyamira due to persistent wrangles within the executive and the assembly.
In a funeral at Nyansiongo on Friday, Kiogoro MCA Samuel Apoko called for dissolution of Nyamira County, arguing that it's 'disorganized'.
"The truth is, Nyamira should be a Sub County of Kisii. You don't have a capacity to manage anything. You're always quarrelling and people are suffering," fired Apologize.
Mr Apoko was making reference to recent chaos in the county assembly that saw one MCA locked up in Kisumu after disrupting a meeting at Pinecone Hotel last week.
But a section of politicians have termed Apoko's remarks as unfortunate with some calling upon him to apologise for disrespecting the people of Nyamira.
"We may have our own challenges but we can't allow someone from outside the county to demean us. Kindly we request you to drop the statement and apologize," said Victor Swanya, Wiper Vice Chairman.
Women Representative Jerusha Momanyi added: "Apoko has no moral authority to dictate us. He can't belittle us no matter our internal challenges. Let him leave us alone."
For over six years, Governor John Nyagarama has been subjected to ridicule with residents blaming him for sluggish development despite millions channeled from the National Government.
According to Controller of Budget Agnes Odhiambo, the county was only able to allocate Sh25 million for development in 2018/19 with billions remaining in the treasury without any tangible proposal from the government side.
