From lawyer Willy Kimani's murder, to Governor Okoth Obado woes and now TV anchor Jacque Maribe, Lessit has dominated Kenya media on pursuit of justice.

But on Monday, the soft spoken judge with 32 years experience in criminal justice excused herself from Monica Kimani's murder probe.

Ms. Maribe and her fiance Joseph Irungu have been implicated in the gruesome murder that sent the country into deep shock.

While she did not state why she was quitting the prove, Lessit asked the accused to appear before a different judge on Wednesday to file an application for bail.

Earlier, they had pleaded not guilty to Monica Kimani's murder, even as lawyer Katwa Kigen asked the judiciary to expedite the probe.

This means that a new judge will handle the matter with the bail application being first on top of business on Wednesday.

Prosecutors insisted that the two should remain remanded in Lang'ata and Industrial Area prison respectively as the probe the couple's house.

Justice James  Wakiaga now officially takes over the matter. Lessit is also the presiding judge in Sharon Otieno's murder where Governor Okoth Obado has been implicated.
