Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui has warned individuals engaging in cattle rustling and causing tension in Njoro sub-county.
Speaking on Tuesday during the burial of a church elder at Full Gospel Churches of Kenya, Lion's Branch, the late David Kamirah Mburu in Kihingo, Njoro, Governor Kinyanjui said it was wrong for residents to live in fears due to a few criminals.
He said as a county they will work closely with the interior administrators in ensuring such individuals are brought to book.
The county boss also called on the chiefs in the area to ensure they work closely with community elders in ensuring security for the people.
“We want to warn those who are engaging in the cattle rustling activities in this area that we will not tolerate such. People cannot live in fears because of a few individuals,” Kinyanjui said.
Sentiments echoed by area MCA Kiere Machoka who said matters of security in the area must be addressed.
“Governor please talk to the county commissioner and all those concerned so that we can have the matter addressed. Our chief is trying but we cannot leave the matter to the chief alone,” said MCA Machoka.
On the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) national examinations, Governor Kinyanjui commended the move taken by the government to address cheating.
“We will work together with other stakeholders to ensure the education standards are improved in this county and nation at large,” he said.
