Soy MP Caleb Kositany has hit out at the opposition leader Raila Odinga remarks he made in regard to Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.
Going back to a pact between President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP Ruto that Mt Kenya would support his bid, Raila said that the DP should not use it to hold Kenya at ransom.
During a meeting with a section of Kikuyu elders from Nakuru at his Bondo home, Raila told DP Ruto that the Kikuyu community owes him nothing in 2022.
However, while speaking in Turbo on Sunday during a funds drive, Kositany said his utterances are uncalled for and ill-intended.
“I want to tell Raila Odinga that Kenyatta is not a conman like him. We have no agreement with the Kikuyu that is correct but we have a friendship that is everlasting and President Uhuru Kenyatta knows who his friends are and how to keep them,” said Kositany.
“You started from Ford Party and destroyed it, you don’t have a friend even Wetangula who supported you, you took his seat and gave it to Orengo. We won't allow that to happen,” added the first term MP.
Purity Wangui Ngirici, the Kirinyaga Woman Representative who also graced the occasion said that come 2022, Kikuyus will support Ruto's presidential bid.
She further said President Kenyatta promised to take ten years and hand over to his deputy and wondered who said that the president has changed his mind since he has never said it in public.
