Eldama Ravine MP Moses Lessonet's brother has been arraigned before a Nakuru court and charged with conspiracy to defraud Baringo Senator Gideon Moi a piece of land valued at Sh100 million.
Appearing before senior principal magistrate Liz Gicheha, Albert Kipkosgei Lesonnet was accused of conspiring to defraud Moi 1.3 acres parcel of land Nakuru municipality no 17/61 valued at Sh100 million.
On the second count, Lessonet was charged with obtaining land registration by false pretense by allegedly registering the said parcel of land and transferring it to his name.
On third and fourth counts, he was charged with forgery of a certificate of leasing and green card signed by a land registry purporting the land belong to him.
He allegedly committed the offense on September 12, 1989.
He was arrested on July 28 at his business premises in Nakuru. He denied the charges and through his lawyer Ochang Ajigo, he accused the police of mishandling his children and house help.
“On the date of the arrest, the police officers went to his house and roughed up children including a five-year-old child, the househelp, and the child is hospitalized. The arrest was messy and not within the law. He is the only breadwinner and as we speak no one is taking care of the child because the mother is not employed,” Said Ochang.
He further prayed that his client is granted favorable bond terms.
“The value is exaggerated and should not be determinant of issuing bond terms and I urged you to grant him very reasonable bond terms,” said Ochang.
He was released on a Sh800000 cash bail.
The court further ordered that his lawyer is supplied with documentary evidence that the prosecution will use against the accused.
