A man who was recently rejected by a girl days to their wedding over his poor background has wed in a ceremony attended by Nairobi senator Johnson Sakaja.
William Mwangi exchanged the vows with Marion Kinywa on Saturday in a lavish event attended by hundreds of guests at the Jesus Winner Ministry church in Roysambu, Nairobi.
Sakaja who had promised the man that he will give his personal car to the couple to drive in during their wedding day made the promise true as he took upon himself to drive the couple to the wedding venue.
On July 30, Sakaja had made a surprising decision while at a church in Roysambu, Nairobi, when he donated Sh50,000 in cash to Mr Mwangi, after he was dumped by his girlfriend days to their wedding for being broke.
"I heard Mwangi's story and all of us were touched," Sakaja said after the wedding on Saturday.
"This is a lesson to our good girls. Never run away from men because of poverty, you never know when God will come knocking."
Apart from Sakaja's Sh50,000 and car contribution, a cleric who was present during the church service then promised to find a job for the 'poor' man.
Sakaja at the same time promised that he would pay Sh15,000 every month to the youthful guy for upkeep.
