The opposition’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has condemned the chaos and disorder witnessed in the Homabay County Assembly on Tuesday.
The incident happened after a section of Members of County Assembly (MCAs) disagreed with house Speaker Elizabeth Ayoo, accusing her of bias.
They claimed that the Speaker had changed the list containing the names of new office holders, in a situation that culminated to violence.
In a tweet on Wednesday, ODM acknowledged being aware of the incident.
The party vowed to initiate punitive measures against members and officials found culpable of involvement.
‘’The Party does not condone any form of hooliganism and disorder in County Assemblies as has been reported in the case Homabay County Assembly.
"Disciplinary action will be taken against any member found to have orchestrated the chaos witnessed yesterday,’’ read the tweet.
This comes slightly a month after the house defied ODM’s directives and went ahead to unseat the house leaders and brought to office a new group.
Among the victims was former House Majority Leader and Kwabwai ward representative Richard Ogindo whose slot was given to his Kanyadoto counterpart Walter Muok.
The party has since summoned the members involved in the defiant move.
