Orange for Democracy movement (ODM) party Senator, advocate Erick Okongo Omogeni, has disagreed with wiper leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka over his remarks on presidential term limit extension.
Speaking on AMLive at NTV on Monday morning, Senator Omogeni said Kenyans do not want the referendum to extend individuals term of office.
"This is a non-issue, I don’t think Kenyans want a referendum to extend terms," Omogeni said.
The former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President noted that Kenyans are tired with underdevelopment in their respective countries and poor performance by their Governors which should be the headlines of discussions with the vast resources that the counties receive.
"I think Kenyans on the ground are disappointed with the performance of their Governors," he added.
He asked political leaders to be fair to the electorates and stop the referendum discussion rather focus on changing the people's lives with the resources available.
The ODM senator who seemed touched by the suffering Kenyans are undergoing pointing to the need to address the current situation bedevilling the country.
"If we want to be fair to Kenyans let's not discuss this issue," stated Okongo Omogeni.
The Nyamira senator asked 'hungry' politicians debating on the referendum and amendments to leave the issue for parliamentarians to deal with the bid that will require parliamentary approval before any other issue of the referendum is discussed.
"On amending the constitution: We need to start isolating issues that can be deal with in Parliament and set aside those that require a referendum," Senator Okongo Omogeni reiterated
His remarks come at a time politicians remain divided on the calls leaving Kenyans confused.
