Keumbu police boss Joshua Muthoka has warned parents against accepting money from men who defile their daughters.
Speaking on Sunday in Keumbu, Muthoka said several cases of defilement in the region go unreported because parents have been colluding with elders and some police officers to defend suspects.
"It has come to my attention that parents whose daughters are defiled resolve the cases locally with the help of elders and some police officers. I want to put it clear that any parent who will be found accepting money or any other gift from men who defile minors will be arrested and taken to court," he said.
He stated that rape and defilement victims must get justice.
"Men who defile minors should be sent to jail. There is no need for such men to continue living in villages because they may end up raping other young girls thus ruining their lives," he added.
The police boss challenged elders to shun traditional ways of solving serious matters in society.
"Elders should know this is the digital world where most of the past ways of solving disputes do not apply," said Muthoka.
