Detectives in Molo have swung into action as they try to unravel one of the most brutal murders in the area.
A Molo-based water officer was brutally attacked on Wednesday night by a group of thugs suspected to be hired hitmen.
The man was slashed with a machete and died as neighbors rushed him to hospital.
According to reports, the man was in the house together with his son when the attackers ambushed them.
The son, Jared Kiige, is recuperating in hospital after he also sustained deep cuts from the attackers.
Neighbours said it remains a mystery how the attackers were able to 'easily' access the entrance of the house yet doors and windows have strong metal grills.
The two were attacked in their bedrooms which means they never heard the attackers forcing their way in.
The man was found writhing in pain at his bedroom where blood oozed from the deep cuts inflicted.
