A man killed on Monday night after storming the home of a former army man armed with a gun has been identified as a police officer.
The incident took place at the home of Rtd major Daniel Ing'olan.
According to reports, Sergeant Gabriel Echwa Ewalan stormed the Rtd Major’s home and shot him before a relative pounced on the police officer and disarmed him.
The relative then used the same gun to kill the policeman for attacking the rtd Major General.
“Ewalan was in charge of the armory and had gone to the homestead of Daniel Ing’olan as a guest, upon arrival, the sergeant opened fire on the 51-year-old retired major and shot him in the right hand and left leg,” Turkana central OCPD David Mborokwa.
The deceased was a sergeant at Lokwamosing police station in Turkana East Sub-County.
The incident happened the same day five KDF officers stormed Lang’ata police station to rescue their colleague who had been arrested.
The army men caused drama at the station forcing some officers to shoot in the air.
“There is a growing clash between different police units as well as police and army men. Army officers consider police as civilian, this creates bad blood,” a KDF officer who requested anonymity told this writer.
