He has been ODM leader Raila Odinga's foot soldier since 2007, but today, former Matuga MP Hassan Mwanyoha is a 'forgotten' man with his political career now in a limbo after losing the 2017 general election.

The former lawmaker who quickly established himself as a key political player in Kwale emerged as Chirau Ali Mwakwere's biggest political rival.

Mwakwere who at that time was Raila's fiercest critic played a key role in President Mwai Kibaki's election in 2007 in a battle pitting him with the then Lang'ata MP.

Despite losing to Mwakwere in that 2007 fierce battle, he successfully appealed against win when the High Court nullified the Transport Minister's election. However, he lost again in the subsequent by-election in 2010

He would later emerge strongly in 2013 and finally won the seat on an ODM ticket. And with his status elevated, he was elected ODM Kwale chairman. But in 2017, he was floored by Kassim Tandaza of ANC.

Since his loss, he has maintained an uncharacteristically low political profile. And despite being a key ODM figure in Kwale where the party's support has been wavering in the past few months, Mwanyoha has not made any comeback with a government job especially after the truce between Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta that has seen some Raila allies make a comeback.

Will the time former Tiwi Ward Councillor finally come? Or will he be consigned into the political dustbin?
