A socialite may be considered to be an influential figure in the society. However, our Kenyan socialites have taken the general reflection of a socialite to new levels.
Some of the notable Kenyan socialites include; Vera Sidika, Huddah Monroe, Corazon Kwamboka, Risper Faith, Mishy Dora and Pendo.
They are a new crop of 'celebrities' in the country who more often than not, hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Notably, though, they are among a breed of Kenyans living life on the fast lane.
Shockingly, a number of Kenyan socialites are highly educated. They went to some of the best schools we have in Kenya.
Majority have university degrees from reputable institutions of higher learning. A good example of such is Corazon, a renowned socialite who studied law at the University of Nairobi and was even admitted to the bar as an advocate.
Vera Sidika was also a student at Kenyatta university but dropped out.
Another interesting thing about these socialites is that they are business oriented and have entrepreneurial ideas. Majority of them have successful businesses that top up the income they get from there 'socialite activities'.
For instance, Huddah Monroe has a lipstick brand and other fashion businesses. Her closest rival, Vera Sidika recently opened a high-end beauty parlour that cost her a reasonable amount of cash to launch.
