Mwilu who is facing graft allegations is being represented by a huge legal team of over 40 lawyers, most of whom are politicians and members of the opposition party.

However, in an interview on Radio Maisha Monday morning, Sifuna noted that the lawyers are simply the choice of the defendant and were solely picked because of their impressive work record.

He added that the same emanates from the fact that the party brags of many lawyers, rubbishing claims that they have been deployed by the party to defend her.

‘’Mawakili walio kortini si wa ODM maana chama cha ODM hakijashtakiwa. Kile kikundi kinaongozwa na John Khaminwa ambaye si mwanasiasa (this is not ODM as the party is not in court and besides, the legal team is led by Khaminwa who is not even a politician),’’ said Sifuna.

He added that the situation emanates from the fact that the party brags of many legal practitioners, hence its supply of most of the lawyers.

‘’Pia tuseme ni kwa sababu ODM tuko na mawakili wengi (this is also because we have many lawyers in ODM),’’ he added.

The ODM side of the team includes Siaya Senator James Orengo, Homabay Town lawmaker Peter Opondo Kaluma and his Suba counterpart Milly Mabona.
