Hijab is a kind of scarf that is worn by Islamic women.
Putting on a hijab as a Muslim woman is a sign of Islamic faith and respect towards the commands of Allah.
There are different types of hijabs that are worn differently.
Burqa - This type covers the whole face and body and leaves only a small opening that can enable one to see.
Khimar - This one is a long scarf that is wrapped around the head and hangs at the middle of the back and the shoulders, but it leaves only the face open.
Chador - This is a kind of cloak that usually covers the whole body. It looks like the khimar but its longer. When worn, it hangs to the feet.
Niqab - This one covers the nose and the mouth and leaves the eyes clear. To put on this, one has to put on the khimar and then the niqab on top of it. It is mostly worn on top of the khimar.
Shayla - The Shayla only covers the head and neck and leaves the face clear. It is rectangular in shape and it is loosely wrapped around the neck and pinned at the shoulder.
