Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has called for the arrest and prosecution of Migori governor Okoth Obado.
Sudi says if ongoing investigations will link the governor to the brutal murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno, he should face the full force of the law.
The 26-year-old Diploma in Medical Records and Information student was killed after she was abducted together with a Nation journalist Barrack Oduor on Monday.
"I want to call upon the Director of Criminal Investigation George Kinoti to arrest the Migori governor if it will be found that he was involved in the murder," the MP told the press at Langas primary school in his constituency on Friday.
“If the lady was truly his girlfriend and to make matters worse she was pregnant, he could have rented an apartment for her instead of killing her,” he added.
The two-time legislator said politicians or powerful individuals involved in an illicit relationship especially with university students should be ready to take responsibility instead of resorting to unacceptable solutions like murder.
Investigations into the killings that has sparked mixed reactions across the country are ongoing with the governor heavily linked to the incident.
He has however denied any involvement in the brutal murder even as his personal assistant is in police custody helping with the Investigations.
