It was all joy and celebrations for a Pwani University student after winning 292,500 on a bet placed during the Harambee Stars vs Ethiopia played on Sunday at Kasarani.
Abdala Yusuf, who is also a staunch supporter of English side Tottenham Hotspur where Victor Wanyama plays his club football, revealed that he placed a live bet on Victor Wanyama to be the next goalscorer using Sh15,000 he had won the previous day while the odds were at 19.5.
The third-year student pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Planning and Management said his decision was informed after Wanyama's relatively unimpressive performance in Bahir Dar against Ethiopia and that he could score a goal to amend his performance at home against the same side.
"I am a strong supporter of our national team captain and after watching him play almost badly against Ethiopia in the first leg, I knew he was going to amend this at home after displaying a spectacular first-half performance. I just only waited for the second half before backing him to score," a joyous Abdala said.
Abdala now says he is going to organize a very big birthday party with some of the money before planning on the next move with the remaining amount.
