The two have been demonstrating new found love.

In Kisumu on Thursday, there was a change of protocol where it was Raila who received the President and First Lady Margret Kenyatta and the Kisumu International Airport.

Usually, presidential protocol demands that the senior most person receives him.

Where the Deputy President is available, it is an automatic protocol that he receives the head of state.

However, in Kisumu, despite the DP being in attendance, it was Raila who received the President.

The President touched down and hugged Raila spending a few seconds with him before moving to greet DP Ruto and other dignitaries.

Earlier, there was another protocol breach where it was Deputy President William Ruto who received Raila.

Raila, who doesn’t hold any position within Kenya’s constitutional set up, is there ranked below the DP and ought to have been the one receiving Ruto.

The Kisumu trip for political leaders has also interestingly opened a new chapter in the political lives of Kenyans as many learn that competition in elective offices doesn’t mean enmity.

President Uhuru is set to lead the official launch of the pilot phase of the Universal Health Coverage Program in Mamboleo.

The program is being implemented in Kisumu, Nyeri, Isiolo and Machakos counties before being rolled out to the other 43 counties.
