Drama ensued in Bomet County government offices for the better part of Tuesday afternoon after angry youths stormed both in executive and assembly offices.
The over 50 youths accused the Joyce Laboso led sadministration of locking them out of active employment, adding that the government had resorted to intimidations.
According to them, the administration had arrested one of the youth who leaked a list of recently employed people, which they claim did not benefit them.
For the better part of afternoon, several county workers were forced to flee for their lives as the youths stormed the offices. They locked some of the offices as they protested within the premises.
Godwin Maritim was arrested after investigations linked him to leaking more than 200 letters of appointment.
He accused the HR officials of undermining Governor Joyce Laboso's supporters.County Assembly Leader of Majority Josphat Kirui was forced to intervene to secure Maritim's release.
Bomet County Jubilee chairman Bernard Mutai had to intervene to calm the protesting youth.
“We are shocked that instead of employing us the county is targeting and arresting us, which is unfair,” said Patrick Rotich as quoted by the Standard.
“Individuals who never played any role are now calling shots and mistreating us,” he said.
“We want to see MCAs working and taking up matters before they get out of hand," added Dominic Top.
Embomos MCA Robert Serbai, Robert Langat (Mutarakwa), Alfred Langat (Singorwet), Clara Koech (Kimulot) and Marcela Chepkirui (Nominated) added that there is a need for the county to addree youth's issues.
Currently, Governor Joyce Laboso is undergoing treatment in London. She was pictured in hospital bed three weeks ago.
