The Kisumu County government is partnering with Utalii College in a bid to revolutionize, and give the tourism sector a much needed boost in the Lakeside County.
This was revealed in a closed door meeting held on Tuesday between Governor Anyang' Nyong’o and Mr. Hashim Mohammed who is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Utalii College.
The meeting was held at the Nyong’o's office.
The Governor insisted on need for rebranding the county, and installing an active and fully equipped tourism information centre.
“The County Government of Kisumu is committed to new partnership with the Kenya Utalii College in setting up a standard learning facility in Kisumu with an aim of revolutionizing the tourism sector,” said Governor Nyong’o.
On his part, Utalii College CEO said there’s a need to employ highly qualified and global competitive human resource for the hospitality and tourism industry in the region.
Kisumu County Chief Executive Member (CEC) for tourism Achie Alai Ojany proposed setting up a College Campus in Kisumu to train relevant stake holders in the tourism industry.
Lake Victoria, Kisumu Museum, Kisumu Impala Sanctuary, Kit Mikayi, Kisumu Harbor and Winam Gulf are among the most famous tourism attraction sites in Kisumu County.
