Speaking at Rachuonyo on Saturday, Mr. Moi, who is on a two days trip in South Nyanza, described Raila as his mentor in politics.

"I have no problem working with Raila. He's my mentor and for a long time, we have been getting along well. I am ready to take this to the next level," he said, adding that Odinga is a statesman.

In April, Moi was among the first politicians to endorse a peace deal between Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta which caught the country by surprise.

Earlier, Homa Bay County MPs led by Gladys Wanga (Women Representative) and Senator Moses Kajwang, called for a partnership between Raila and Moi.

"The best thing Uhuru can do is handing over powers to Raila and Moi. These are sober politicians who can take Kenya far," Wanga said.

Deputy President William Ruto has waged a spirited fight to succeed Uhuru, even with divisions are his Rift Valley stronghold.

On Sunday, Senator Moi, who is visiting the region to the first time, is expected to grace a fundraiser at Home Bay Tourists hotel.
