Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino has outlined key areas he would have addressed in the joint Parliamentary session scheduled for today if he was the President.
President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to hold a joint parliamentary address in Parliament on Thursday.
Babu in a Facebook post outlined key areas which he would centre his address on. They include:
1.Corruption
He said he would have prioritised corruption since the head of state has declared war on corruption but Kenyans are not yet satisfied with the progress.
"H. E the President formally declared war on corruption in his state of the nation address three years ago. However, since then Kenyans have not seen a single conviction related to corruption. There is increasing frustration among Kenyans that we are being treated to more of public relations that meaningful action," read part of his post.
He added that if he was the President, he would sack all Cabinet Secretaries involved in corruption.
2.Youth unemployment
He said Kenya is facing unemployment challenges which he would have heavily emphasised on if he was the head of state.
"A lot of our youth are jobless and unable to care for their families. The issue of youth unemployment has reached national disaster proportions and needs to be faced as such," he said
3. Universal Healthcare
"The one thing President Kibaki is remembered for is bringing free education to families that could not afford to send their children to school.
"H. E Kenyatta has the opportunity of being remembered as the President who brought universal healthcare to Kenyans," he said.
"If I were President, this would be the one item I prioritize in my budget and plans; to ensure all Kenyans are able to access quality medical care whenever they need to and in all parts of the country," added the Embakasi East MP.
In his address today, Kenyans hope the President will prioritise issues that are of more importance to Kenyans such as lowering the wage bill.
Uhuru will address a joint session of Parliament from 2:00 pm before MPs break for the Easter Holidays.
