More leaders from Kisii County have opposed the hike in fuel prices.
Bonchari MP John Oyioka claimed that the hike in fuel prices will see passengers traveling across the country being overcharged.
"I don't support the government's plans to hike fuel prices. President Uhuru Kenyatta should act and ensure the fuel prices come down for the benefit of mwanainchi," he said.
Samuel Omwando, a Kisii based ODM politician accused Finance Cabinet secretary Henry Rotich of rushing to implement the 16 percent fuel tax yet MPs opposed it.
"It is sad that poor Kenyans are being subjected to pay more on fuel for the government to recover lost money being misused through corruption. Finance Cabinet Secretary should be sent home," he said.
He said corrupt individuals should be forced to surrender their 'stolen' property for the government to recover lost money.
Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka said a hike in fuel prices is not only bad for mwanainchi but MPs also.
"We are also feeling the pain because we must fuel our vehicles. It is time that the fuel prices should be reviewed," he said.
The vocal lawmaker said MPs should not be blamed for the hike in fuel prices.
