South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro has mourned the death of Nduru Boys' High School student who was on Thursday evening struck to death by thunder.
The MP joined the community to mourn the departed student.
"It is unfortunate to lose one of the students at Nduru Boys'. I wish to send my sincere condolences to the family of the deceased during these trying moments of sorrow. May the young departed soul rest in peace," said the MP.
The lawmaker assured that he will reach out to Kenya Power to ensure the installation of thunder-arresting devices is done within the neighbourhood to prevent such unfortunate scenarios.
He challenged students to remain indoors during heavy rains to curb unnecessary deaths caused by thunder.
"Students should keep off going to the playing field when it is raining or when it is about to rain to prevent unwanted deaths. Teachers need also not to allow students to go out for games when it is raining," stated Osoro.
The MP challenged parents back at home to ensure their children are safe during this season the region is receiving heavy downfall.
