A secondary school in the North Eastern region is staring at a crisis after all the students selected to join the school in 2019 failed to report.
By the close of business on January 11, 2019, Arabia Girls' Secondary School in Mandera had not admitted even a single student despite having selected fifty students to join the learning institution.
According to the school principal Mr Issa Yarrow, not a single form one student reported to school despite the fact that a number of them had picked their admission letters.
“During the selection and placement exercise, we were given fifty students who would join form one this year. Some of them had already picked their letters but so far none has reported or even communicated to us. It is a crisis in waiting," revealed the school head.
It is, however, expected that a number of form one students will report next week following the directive by the Ministry of Education to extend admission exercise to Friday next week.
Amid the developments, the student population in the school at the moment stands at 55 students with only four teachers employed by the Teacher's Service Commission (TSC).
