Garissa Township MP Aden Duale, Treasury Cabinet Secretary (CS) Henry Rotich and National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi were holed up in a meeting on Thursday over the 16% Value Added Tax (VAT) that has seen fuel prices increase.
The meeting according to Duale looked at the concerns raised by Kenyans over the implementation of the VAT.
The meeting held at Parliament Buildings in Nairobi was also attended by Attorney General Paul Kihara and National Assembly Budget Committee chairperson Kimani Ichung'wa.
Duale told journalists that the issues raised by Kenyans on the VAT will be looked at.
The Speaker of the National Assembly on his part said that they had agreed to have more meetings and come up with recommendations on the fuel increase.
"This is part of the many meetings and consultations we are going to have as we look for ways of dealing with the issues at hand," he said.
Rotich on his part declined to comment on whether he will bow down to pressure and have the VAT suspended.
He also declined to comment on why he implemented the VAT despite MPs having voted to suspend it by two years.
The 16% VAT that was effected on September 1 has seen fuel prices increase causing uproar amongst Kenyans.
On Thursday, a High Court Judge in Bungoma temporarily halted the implementation of the 16% VAT on fuel.
Pressure is mounting on President Uhuru Kenyatta to suspend the VAT.
