Nominated Senator Rose Nyamunga has joined the list of leaders who have condoled with Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o following the loss of his mother.
Dorcas Owino Nyong'o succumbed at the Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi on Tuesday.
Her family has since been condoled by some of the nation's top politicians, including opposition leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto.
In her letter of condolence, Nyamunga termed Mama Dorcas' death as a great loss to many people who were in contact with her and those who knew her.
She revealed having known the departed for a long time, since the days when her husband Shimei Nyong'o was the Chaplain of Ng'iya Girls school.
"The death of Mama Dorcas Owino Nyong'o is sad news to all of us. On my own behalf and that of my family, I wish to convey my message of condolence to the professor together with the family and friends.
I have known her for many years running to the days when the late Canon Nyong'o served as the Chaplin of Ng'iya Girls. I will love to remember her for her strong faith in God and how she stood firm for her family," she wrote on Facebook.
Mama Dorcas died aged 98.
