Days after FKF President, Nick Mwendwa threatened to withdraw Harambee Starlets from AWCON due to lack of finance to facilitate the team; It now appears that he doesn't have to do so, after CAF reinstated Equatorial Guinea women national team to 2018, Africa Women's Cup of Nations(AWCON).
This comes after a successful appeal by the Federation of Equatorial Guinea Football against an earlier decision to ban her women team from participating in the tournament.
Equatorial Guinea had been banned for allegedly fielding ineligible player; Annette Jacky Messomo.
Consequently, Kenya won't feature in AWCON that is slated to start on 11th, November in Ghana.
On 7th, Wednesday, CAF Appeal Board ruled in favor of the Federation of Equatorial Guinea de football regarding the disciplinary action taken against its player on 8th, September 2018.
"The council admitted the Equatorial Guinea appeal and has overruled early 8th, September 2018 decision of player Annette Jacky Messomo; she is eligible to play for the national team of Equatorial Guinea and that Equatorial Guinea is reintegrated in the Total African Women Cup of Nations 2018," read the statement.
The ruling means Kenya won't have enough time to appeal for the decision as the tournament is set to kick off in a few days time.
