Members of the Migori County Assembly (MCAs) are torn between impeaching Governor Zachary Okoth Obado or not.
He is facing charges of aiding the murder of Sharon Otieno. Reports indicate that a section of MCAs have already started plans to impeach the county boss.
However, a section of MCAs are not supporting bids to oust the embattled leader, indicating that this is the time to actually save him.
"It is a politically sensitive and emotive issue. Many people want us to start preparing the ground to impeach Obado after he was charged with murder.
" Others say we should protect him," an MCA who asked to remain anonymous is quoted by the Standard.
According to article 181 of the constitution, a county governor may be removed from office on any of the following grounds; gross violation of the Constitution or any other law, where there are serious reasons for believing that the county governor has committed a crime under national or international law, abuse of office or gross misconduct and physical or mental incapacity to perform the functions of office of county governor.
Governor Okoth Obado has denied all allegations connecting him to the murder of Ms Otieno.On Thursday, Judge Jessie Lessit will make a decision on whether to release him on bail or not.
