Wiper Party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka’s hope of ascending to power remain slim after Ford Kenya Leader Moses Wetangula announced his departure from National Super Alliance (NASA).
Kalonzo was hoping against hope that the alliance remains intact and co-principals back him as he seeks to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta after he leaves office.
It is evident that NASA is on the verge of collapsing following the recent shocker.
Kalonzo now needs to go back to the drawing board and think about the way forward.
According to Wetangula, NASA is no longer existent.
“In my view, NASA is now a moribund organisation. NASA is history. We were in NASA as FORD-Kenya in a coalition of the willing, we suffered a massive betrayal by our presidential candidate and as a party, we are now focused on how to strengthen our grassroots support and to strengthen our national appeal,” said the Bungoma Senator, who was a NASA co-principal.
Kalonzo was optimistic that Raila, Wetangula and ANC Musalia Mudavadi would stand with him when that time comes.
Kalonzo is no doubt one of the greatest losers in case the alliance does not hold on until that time.
Kalonzo, who has maintained that he will contest for the nation’s top seat, now is at the crossroads.
