Speaking on Friday when he hosted Cabinet Secretary Lands and physical planning Ms Farida Karoney to discuss land matters in the county, the county boss said land grabbing must come to an end.

"Cartels forging documents to own public land should stop before the law catches up with them. My government is determined to end land encroachment, grabbing, and land fraud," he said.

Ongwae fired warning shots to officers working at the lands ministry in the county saying any officer colluding with cartels to grab land will be sacked and arrested to face prosecution.

"I don't want to hear cases where land title deeds are backdated for instance if one is issued with a title deed in 2019 why should land officers backdate the document to claim it was issued in 1995? Proper land records must be kept to help in tracking land cartels," he added.

While admitting that land grabbing has been a challenge to his government, Ongwae challenged residents to report anyone they suspect is among the land grabbers to authorities for immediate legal actions to be taken.

"Anyone who has grabbed land should surrender it or the law will take its course," said Ongwae.
