Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi has asked residents in the county to reject a section of politicians he described as conmen.
Maangi, who is expected to vie for the Kisii gubernatorial seat in 2022 stated that some upcoming politicians are taking advantage of the electorates by coning them.
"I urge residents in Kisii County who are eligible voters to reject politicians who have become conmen, promising what they can not offer. Politicians engaging in politics based on propaganda should not be listened to," Maangi stated.
Speaking over the weekend at Tente SDA Pastoral District Church in West Mugirango, Nyamira County, Maangi defended the development goals which have so far been achieved by the Kisii County Government under the leadership of Governor James Ongwae.
Maangi challenged the electorates not to accept lies from politicians whose intention is to get into power to enrich themselves.
"Political leaders of goodwill should put the interests of our people at heart. I am committed to helping my boss (Governor Ongwae) to deliver all the campaign promises made during the 2017 campaigns before 2022," Maangi stated.
The deputy governor said that come 2022, Kisii residents should elect leaders on the basis of their development ideas and record and not political parties.
