According to psychologists, 70% of those who commit suicide always tell someone or give some warning signs that they are about to take their lives.

It is only later when the person has done the unthinkable that the person who was told realize that it was not a mere bluff.

In this article, I explore some tips discussed by Dr John Grohol, CEO of Psych Central on how you can tell that someone is about to commit suicide.

1.    Direct verbal expressions

The person might say how life is useless, say how life would be better without them or say that they do not want to live anymore.

2.    Dramatic changes in mood

Someone who has been bubbly and lively suddenly changes into a sad, introverted person. They might also suddenly lose interest in activities that they were passionate about.

3.    Binging on alcohol or drug abuse

People who are about to commit suicide might suddenly start binging on alcohol or abuse drugs without a care to what you warn them about drug abuse and their health.

4.    Reconnecting with family or getting affairs in order

People who have committed suicide have been found to first reconnect with their extended family as though to say goodbye before taking away their lives. There are also those who get affairs in order for example paying an old bad debt.

5.    Easily giving away what they love best

There are those who will part with what they loved most before committing suicide.
