President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to tour Kisumu County next month.
The Head of State will preside over the national launch of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) pilot phase for four pilot counties in Kisumu on December 13, 2018.
UHC’s pilot phase covers Kisumu, Nyeri, Isiolo and Machakos Counties.
On Wednesday, a team from the national government guided by the county leadership toured Kisumu to identify suitable venues for the event.
Speaking on behalf of Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o who was attending the Blue Economy Conference in Nairobi, Deputy Governor Dr. Mathew Owili said the county is ready for the event.
He noted that the administration will do everything humanly possible to ensure nobody is left out in the UHC registration process.
"Again what will happen for the next six months after the launch is going to be very important" he said in a statement sent to newsrooms by Governor Nyong’o's press unit director Alloys Ager.
The event will be the second time the President has visited Kisumu after the March 09, 2018 handshake with ODM leader Raila Odinga.
His visit will come a few weeks after First Lady Margret Kenyatta toured the lakeside county where she presided over the launch of the Beyond Zero Safari last week.
