However, Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo has sympathized with Gwendo saying that the former Senator has learnt from her past mistakes, and that Kenyans should not be very harsh on her.

"I have seen a story of former nominated Senator Joy Gwendo aka Jaber Nyar Henry. I am not privy to the transactions that got her to Court and do not wish to defend her or to justify her deeds.

"If she erred, I hope that she has learnt from her mistakes. To err is human and she is already paying the price. Many are already condemning her, I guess rightfully and celebrating her misfortune. Whether right or wrong, I extend my sisterly hand of moral support,"  the ODM lawmaker said in a post on her Facebook Page.

"Our God is a God of second chances. Take heart Nyaber Nyar Henry. It may be Friday, but Sunday is coming. Learn, pick up the pieces, walk again even if it means starting with baby steps. Be blessed," she added.

Gwendo who pleaded guilty to abuse of office charges agreed to pay Kisumu East Cotton Growers Co-operative Sacco Sh. 1.7 million, the amount of money she was said to have stolen.

The former Jubilee Senator's troubles started in January when she was arraigned in court for allegedly forging Sh200,000 cheque.
