Friday's tour by ODM leader Raila Odinga to India further unravels his role in President Uhuru Kenyatta's government despite denying working for government.
At Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Raila was accorded presidential reception before jetting out to New Delhi where he is expected to hold bilateral talks with Indian government on behalf of Uhuru.
Even more compelling, Raila will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a meeting organised by the two states."He is no longer an ordinary citizen and acts as a special envoy who can execute presidential duties."In the agreement, Raila remains a Statesman who informally shares power with the president. Actually at India, he is representing the president," said a lawyer close to ODM in confidence.On Saturday, Raila held talks with Kenyan students at Bangalore ahead of his tight schedule in the Asian sub continent from Monday.When he jets back on Thursday, Raila will head to Kisumu and will link with his new friend President Uhuru and Tanzanian's John Magufuli in Migori.
Blogger Abraham Mutai took on Twitter to ridicule DP William Ruto, whose relationship with Uhuru has deteriorated lately.
"Raila will be heading to India shortly where he shall meet the PM on behalf of Uhuru. These are roles that should have been delegated to Ruto," he said.
