Isiolo Governor Mohammed Kuti is on the spot over an alleged agreement with a foreign owned company to manage healthcare in the county.
Governor Kuti has been summoned by the Senate Health Committee to explain the Sh443 million deal entered with the company.
The governor has however come out to defend himself by dismissing the allegations that his administration had sold off the referral hospital.
Speaking on Saturday during the Mashujaa Day celebrations, Mr Kuti said the proposal is still in the county assembly and has not been approved.
According to the governor, the assembly will debate the proposal of entering into an agreement with the foreign organization.
He said working with the foreign company will help improve health services at the referral hospital and for the residents to get quality health care.
“The proposal is in the county assembly for debate and if approved will be of benefit to locals in the region.”
“If the assembly approves the proposal, it will go a long way in ending maternal and infant mortality rates in the far flung parts of the county,” said the governor.
Last week, the senate summoned the governor to explain how his administration reached an agreement with the foreign company to manage county’s healthcare.
