A 61-year-old woman received a dog's beating on Monday from angry locals after she allegedly smeared her daughter-in-law with human waste.
The incident happened at Nyamware village in Nyaribari Chache, Kisii County.
Locals claimed that the old woman Rose Nyaboke smeared her elder son's wife Jennifer Kerubo with human waste after she was denied food.
"Nyaboke has been a troublesome woman since Kerubo was married by her son. She picked human waste from the toilet and smeared on Kerubo while she was crossing near her house going to a shop," said Charles Omayio.
Area assistant chief Lucas Mose said Kerubo notified neighbours about the incident.
"Neighbors stormed the granny's house and beat her thoroughly for smearing human waste on Kerubo. Luckily Nyumba Kumi officials managed to rescue the old woman and rushed her to Keumbu hospital where she is recapturing," said Mose.
The chief warned old women in the area against mistreating their daughters-in-law.
He further urged members of the public not to take the law into their hands adding that authorities and elders should be involved while solving problems in the village.
