gChief Justice David Maraga on Monday clashed with Attorney General (AG) Paul Kihara over the ongoing cases of graft in the country.
The AG, who was appointed by Uhuru to lead the multi-agency task force overseeing the war on graft, started by throwing jabs at the judiciary accusing it of being lenient to graft suspects.
Kihara in a thinly-veiled attack on the judiciary said it an obstacle to the fight against corruption monster in the country.
“It cannot be right that agencies responsible for investigations are prevented from doing their job. Nobody is above the law and we will do just that,” Kihara said.
He added: “Kenyans are expecting much and we have no tangible results. We have talked enough,” said the AG.
The remarks however, did not go down well with CJ Maraga who accused those involved in fighting graft of doing a shoddy job while taking suspects to court.
“Don't use the Judiciary as a scapegoat. That one we will not allow. If you bring weak cases we will tell you. The public will judge us. We will not allow scapegoats and Wanjiku is tired of games,” Maraga said.
Maraga and Kihara were speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of new Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) chief executive, Twalib Mbarak, at the Supreme Court.
