Matungulu MP Stephen Mutinda Mule has called for investigations on Ruai Family Hospital.
This is after a 34-year-old woman died after giving birth in what has been suspected to be as a result of negligence.
Addressing the press on Monday, Mule said that the Ministry of Health and the Kenya Medical Practitioners board should investigate the hospital.
He noted that a lot of private hospitals have been duping patients using NHIF.
He maintained that these facilities lure patients with the 'NHIF accepted' tag knowing well that they couldn't offer some services.
"I have heard about the incident at Ruai Family Hospital and the issue needs to be looked into deeply. On my part, I seat in the Health Committee. I will notify the committee on this issue and take firm action," vowed Mule.
He urged NHIF to be firm and clear with institutions registered with it to follow the ethics set by the medical board.
"We cannot allow 'business people' to take advantage of the sick and so Ruai hospital should carry their own cross," he added.
On Thursday, Eunice Ngei died due to excessive bleeding after giving birth at the hospital.
According to the woman's family, the doctors didn't try their best and they delayed referring the patient whose health was getting worse.
"I begged the doctors to refer my wife but my cries fell on deaf ears. By the time they were referring her, she had lost so much blood and died even before doctors could attend to her at Kangundo Level Four Hospital," said Rueben Ngei, the deceased's husband.
However, the hospital's administration claimed they were not at fault and had done everything to save Ngei's life.
