Many are of the opinion that Maribe is innocent and her only fault was to love Joseph Irungu alias Jowie too much.

Recently, some of the Moi University students expressed their opinion on Maribe's involvement in the case.

Kevin Kiptoo, a fourth-year student in the School of Biological Sciences believes Maribe is only being 'crucified' because she is a public figure.

"The reason why Maribe is being judged is that she is a public figure and therefore the judiciary does not want to be seen as being lenient. This is considering the fact that there is no evidence linking her directly to the scene of the crime," Kiptoo stated.

Miriam Nanjala on the other hand firmly believes Maribe is innocent.

"Maribe is the one who broke that story on air at Citizen TV. The look on her face was extremely innocent. It was so clear that she never even knew the lady. The grief on her face while airing the story is proof enough she never even knew the lady," Nanjala expressed her opinion passionately.

David Mogaka, also a student at Moi University acknowledges the fact that it was wrong for Maribe to try and cover up for Jowie in the beginning but still that is not proof enough that she had a hand in the killing of Kimani.

"Maribe should still be charged for trying to cover up for her boyfriend. That is the only crime she has committed," Mogaka noted.

Maribe and Irungu are still being held as the prime suspects in the murder case.
