Political commentator Mutahi Ngunyi has defended President Uhuru Kenyatta's recent disappearance from the public domain saying it was a deserved break.
Ngunyi made the remarks shorty after the President emerged in photos showing him on duty as he signs legal amendments into law at State House on Monday afternoon.
According to Ngunyi, such breaks were necessary for consultation and spiritual intervention that would help Uhuru avoid going wrong on his mandate as the head of state.
"RESPECT 'President Kenyatta'. Every man has a cave. Every man must retreat to his cave, once in a while. Smoke some stuff, read some books and hear from God! If Adam had done this, he would not have sinned!" argued Mutahi Ngunyi in a Tweet.
A number of users however wondered what the analyst implied by saying everyone needed time away in their personal caves to "smoke some stuff," even though only the commentator would elaborate.
There had been debate on social media about the president missing in action until Monday morning when State House spokesperson Kanze Dena confirmed that Uhuru was in the country and could report to work at his office daily.
The President resurfaced on Monday as he signed Health Amendment Bill of 2018 and Assumption of office of the governor bill into law amid concerns about his whereabouts.
