The county boss said the leaders were elected to serve the people and not to fight him.

He was speaking during a live interview in KTN on Thursday.

“The main reason leaders are elected is not to take care of their own political aspirations but to bring development to the people. The Machakos MCAs are so caught up in playing political games of sycophancy, they have been keen to shut down Machakos,” Mutua said.

He warned them against being used at the expense of the residents.

“You cannot concentrate on making money when you are stuck in the primitive basic system of survival of going to the river to collect dirty water with bilharzia,” he added.

Mutua has been at logger heads with the MCAs since he was elected.

He has severally accused them of attempting to bring down his government.

The governor appointed his CECs without the MCAs' approvals.

The MCAs accuse Mutua of micromanaging the county's resources.

Mutua has, however, dismissed the claims terming them baseless and malicious.
