ODM party leader Raila Odinga is in trouble again after an ODM governor disowned his stand over the 8 per cent VAT on fuel tax
Kisii County Governor James Ongwae said Raila's stand on fuel taxation is personal and doesn't represent the interests of NASA coalition.
"Raila supported 8 per cent VAT on fuel tax as proposed by President Uhuru Kenyatta because it is his democratic right. Raila's stand on fuel tax doesn't represent the opposition's stand because both several Jubilee and NASA allied MPs rejected Uhuru's proposal," he said.
Ongwae called on Kenyans not to dwell much on the controversial Finance Bill 2018 and focus on working hard to improve their livelihoods.
"It is time Kenyans must work hard to better their lives because some MPs who were sent to Parliament have turned to be greedy supporting huge tax to be imposed on poor Kenyans," he said.
The governor lauded a section of Gusii MPs led by Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka for standing firm to oppose the 8 per cent VAT on fuel tax saying the legislators are the true representatives of the poor people.
