It is a new dawn for the health sector in Kisii County after the recently hired foreign doctors from Cuba arrived to start work.
The county on Wednesday morning received two medical specialist from Cuba.

While welcoming the doctors, Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi said the specialists will help improve delivery of health services across all the public health centers in line with an inter-state agreement between Kenya and Cuba.

The county received Dr Alberto Felipe (a plastic surgeon) and Dr Juan Carlos Casalis Macia (Family Physician).
Maangi said they will be based at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital (KTRH) and will offer services to all people.

He added that the partnership will also see doctors to share their skills and experience with Kenyan doctors in the county.
"Residents with special needs, attention will be attended to equally with the doctors without favor," he said.

He called on members of the public and medical staff to give the two specialists humble time to deliver and ensure they offer necessary support as required.
"We should not harass them but ensure we support them in their daily work," he added.
