Investigations into the killing of Monica Kimani has continued to solve several puzzles surrounding the murder.
Detectives are now trying to piece together evidence to confirm if Joseph Kuria Irungu, major suspect, shot himself immediately after committing the murder to cover up his involvement.
As the Standard Digital reports, detectives have revealed that Irungu might have tried to commit suicide or cover up his acts by shooting himself and claiming assailants attacked him.
The police state that the shooting took place at Jacque Maribe’s house.
The detectives reported that this was confirmed by Maribe’s house-help who says she heard a loud bang in their house that fateful night.
Besides contradicting reports from Maribe and her boyfriend Irungu, investigators also believe that the shooting took place inside Maribe’s house in the toilet.
They say that the suspect might have covered the pistol with a piece of cloth to act as a silencer.
They allege that the used piece of cloth was recovered at Maribe’s residence where Irungu allegedly set some items on fire to hide possible evidence.
The police said that the man in a kanzu who visited Monica the day she was murdered has been positively identified to be Joseph Irungu by four witnesses.
