Protests erupted in various towns across Nyamira on Tuesday as government confronted reality on tax collections following resistance waged by NRM wing.
For the better part of last week, Nyamira Resistance Movement under Beavon Magare warned of repercussions citing poor service delivery and delayed salaries of workers.
With Miruka traders boycotting tax remittances on Friday, several traders joined the movement on Monday with some holding protests in defiance over what they termed as 'incompetence'.
"This is just a tip in the iceberg of what we are capable of doing. You will see more people joining us and this is a good way to start it.
"Already we have seen protests in Mosobeti, Chepilat, Nyansiongo and Keroka. Ekerenyo and Ikonge are not also left behind," said David Ogwagwa, one of the leaders.
Initially, county government supporters had threatened to attack organisers of demonstrations across the country.
And besides tax boycott, the NRM wing has also started collecting signatures for dissolution of county government, citing poor service delivery and grand corruption as the main anchors.
On Friday, Nyagarama accused his competitors of hiding in the 'small crisis' to sabotage his administration.
"We had a small crisis and it has been fixed. Worker will be paid their salaries and I am organising the county leadership," he said.
