NASA leader Raila Odinga has urged striking nurses to get back to work since there is no money for them get a pay rise.
Raila while speaking when he joined President Uhuru Kenyatta with leaders from Kisii and Nyamira Counties on Wednesday during the commissioning of various health infrastructure at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital said nurses should drop their hard stance and start work.
"I'm calling upon nurses to get back to work since there is no money for them to get the pay rise. The allowances they are claiming from county governments won't be paid now because even the national government has no money," he said.
The former Prime Minister warned nurses' officials against defying court orders and the President's orders.
"It is sad that nurses' officials are the ones behind the ongoing strike. Orders issued by the court and the Head of State should be respected. Kenyans need to get proper health care at all public health centres across the country," said Raila.
He assured that he will continue working closely with President Uhuru Kenyatta in uniting Kenyans to hasten the pace of development.
